The Goodnight Society began as a dream (what else?) in 2014 by our founder Kathryn Koch (that’s her pictured, holding her favourite piece from our launch collection, the Let’s Jet Around leggings). It was a funny dream for a corporate marketing girl and wannabe fiction writer with no fashion industry experience to have, but let’s just say she’s not the kind of girl to let a little thing like that get in the way.
Kathryn had a dream to do some good in the world, and make some really good pyjamas at the same time. And so The Goodnight Society was born, a quirky, colourful sleepwear label for big dreamers and good nights. We sell a little piece of tangible happiness, disguised as sleepwear, pyjamas, pajamas, nighties….you know, the stuff you wear to bed. Unless you sleep naked, in which case, you’re probably in the wrong place.
We design all of our own prints because that’s the really, really fun bit. All of our prints have a bold personality and a little story to tell about our quirky Australian culture, the things we love about our lives, and the people we love in them. That’s how we can get Hot like a Sunrise, Great Night Shark and Unsinkable Mum into the same range.
We don’t take our pyjama prints too seriously, but we’re serious about the way we make our pyjamas. That’s why we use only organic cotton, and only manufacture using factories that care for their workers and pay them a living wage. We believe in buying well, but buying less.
Our pyjamas call Brisbane, Australia, home but are true citizens of the world. Like us, they love a good holiday and just want to travel to far flung places. We can’t wait to see pics of them having a good night sipping coffee by the Seine, on safari in South Africa, lounging by a fire in the wilds of Saskatoon, or trekking along the Inca trail. Remind them to send us a virtual postcard. We’ll miss them.
